Planning your trip to Backroads? The good news is that you’re coming at the best time of year to have a good look around the beautiful Mid West.
Here’s a small taste of what’s on offer. Check out Australia’s Coral Coast for more travel inspiration and details.
Get back to nature in the Chapman Valley and the Moresby Ranges – an ancient landscape feature, known for their unique shape and offering fantastic views.
August is the start of the wildflower season. You can get an update on what’s blooming here.
If you’re a fan of the ‘gram, check out the Turquoise Coast Instagram Trail Map for all of your stopover points en route! And then your trail once you hit Geraldton – we’ll be heading to the Yamaji art ‘Emu Eggs’ on the foreshore!.
Need some food inspo? If you’re staying in Geraldton, here are eleven food and beverage spots to add to your itinerary. And we’ll add a couple more – we can’t go past the coffee at Quiet Life, and if you enjoy a donut, stop by Beached Barrel on the Geraldton foreshore. We like to keep it simple – get yourself a Cup ‘O’ Balls! You might even see some at the finish line!
You can’t come to the Mid West without exploring what’s OFF the coast. The Houtman Abrolhos Islands lie 60km west of Geraldton and are often described as the Galapagos Islands of the Indian Ocean. Nature enthusiasts flock to the Abrolhos Islands for fishing, bird watching, snorkelling and diving opportunities, but you can choose to simply relax in the pristine surrounds!
